About Mark Sear

I am an enterprise AI operator, investor-operator, and AI maximalist.

Across three decades I have worked through every major technology cycle from client-server onwards. This one is different.

My current work is focused on production AI systems inside large enterprises: architecture, operating models, executable workflows, governance, evaluation, and the human systems needed to make AI useful at scale.

At Maersk, I lead AI Forward Engineering, including CX AI systems that turn human-readable operating procedures into executable AI workflows. The work is live across 50+ countries in Ocean freight processing, handling around 400k emails per month today and scaling toward 1M by the end of June 2026.

I build with the tools I believe in. Claude Code paired with Codex is part of my daily environment. I do not think credible AI leadership in 2026 is compatible with being too far from the work.

My background spans Dell EMC, CNN International, Costa Coffee, Sisense, Maersk, Inteligex, The Money Program, and advisory work with AI startups.

Especially interested in

  • AI systems, not AI pilots
  • Encoding the organisation
  • Governance as a scale enabler
  • Build vs buy with conviction
  • AI through an investor-operator lens
  • Work, autonomy, and the next phase of life

I have limited patience for AI theatre. Pilots are easy. Production is where reality starts.
